Manila Hospital Nurse Requirements - Updated May 2014

On this day and time, being a nurse in the Philippines is a real challenge. We all know, yes including you, that our course is one of those that can't go by without 100% dedication. What's sad is that we mostly are looked upon at by other professionals because of our rate of unemployment, etc. But what can we do with our fate? As one who wants to leave the country for a better salary (which they can't provide for us here) we need hospital experience. Which, by the way needs tertiary (preferably 300 bed capacity hospital experience). And not every nurse in Manila is blessed with their own 'backers' to get them hospital jobs. So, what the hell is the rest of us gonna do? Here's a tip: PASS YOUR RESUMES TO EVERY HOSPITAL THERE IS. There's no harm in trying, in taking a chance. With a little bit of luck, you might just find yourself getting the job you need!
And the process WILL be tiresome. Exhausting to say the least, but you better buck up. Not everything can be served on a silver platter for you.

St. Luke's Medical Center-Global City Requirements
  1. Resume
  2. Transcript of Records
  3. Certificate of Board Rating and Passing
- You can submit your requirements at SLMC-GC. Just enter through the entrance near S&R to Basement 1 and submit to the HR (manpower and staffing) directly! Do not give it to the security guard! You'll have a better chance of being prioritized there.
- If given a text to return for further interview, you'll be given an IQ test for 15 minutes and a brief interview afterwards.
- Trainees will have to undergo a three-month training program worth 10k for the whole course. This is known as the Post-Graduate Nurse Training Program (PGNT). After passing the course, there will be a 'free' one month training and only then will you be up for evaluation for absorption. Though, according to numerous threads, most trainees really are absorbed. Though not instantaneously.

I have trained there last year, only finishing the first phase, but at least one thirds of my batch who continued are already staff nurses. Though not everybody who passed were given recommendation letters. If given the glory, their contract lasts for 3 years.

(PGH) Philippine General Hospital Requirements
  1. PRC License, in absence, may use the claim stub
  2. Picture of any size, preferably the one you used for the PRC filing
- Before entering the premises you need to submit a valid ID with your picture in it in exchange for a visitors pass. Applicants may head directly to the DNRD, in front of ward 6. You can ask people there because it may be a bit tricky heading there.
- At the DNRD, you'll ask for a stub for an examination and head back near the lobby to pay at the cashier (200 Php). Then you'll go back to the DNRD to choose the date of your examination.
- PGH only has exams twice a month and they do the exams for man pooling purposes. It is said that there is 85-90% mortalities in their exam, so you have to review hard. If in case you fail, you can re-take the examination after 2months. The exam really isn't that hard, it's more of basic and procedural stuff that most nurses has forgotten.

Updated as of May 2014

This is a very-soon-to-rise private hospital in Taguig City. In between the City Hall and Acacia Estates. Personally speaking, I think it has great potential for a lot of residencial condominiums are rising near it. According to their HR Head, Mr. Chad, the hospitel (yes, that's the term people) will have 100+ bed capacity upon soft opening and will have 250+ when it's fully finished. The hospitel is used because the 50+ founders want a "hotel" environment rather than that of a hotel.

Requirement:
  1. Resume
That's all. Easy eh? Just proceed to the site (still in construction) and pass your resume. They're very keen on having your correct number. A lot has passed resumes with the wrong mobile numbers. And ta-dah, cannot be reached.

Then, you will be given a schedule for a nursing aptitude test. 80% passing rate. 80 items = not below 60 points. If you passed or did not, they will contact you.

If successful, they'll interview you if you fit for the position.

Frankly, they want residents near the area. But since they need more, they also accept those from other places.

Goodluck!

    1. Nope! :) Kinuha lang nila yung requirements. I got a call back last quarter. It was from the HR. I thought for staff nurse. Kaso when I went in for the interview, I learned that the position was medical secretary ng doctor. :(

  5. I went to Makati Med last week. The guard didn't allow me to go to the nursing service department, instead he informed me that i should drop my documents at the drop box beside the stairs right at the entrance if i am applying as a staff nurse. There was a note posted: FOR THIS WHO ARE APPLYING FOR THE POSITION OF STAFF NURSE, HERE ARE THE FF REQUIREMENTS - RESUME, TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS, BOARD RATING.

Should i have just proceeded to the nursing service dept?

  6. Hello! Is there a board rating requirement in MMC? Like if you got 75% or below 80%? Thanks! :)

    1. I've encountered this question a lot. And I tried asking my superiors about it. They told me na in a lot of instances, kahit below 80% ang rating sa board. Magpasa pa din. What matters most is the character. "Skills can be easily learned. Pero ang attitude mahirap baguhin", our trainor from Cardinal told us.

Aaaand sa mga requirements ng MMC, they didn't specify naman the rating. Hihi. Dami ko lang sinabi.

  12. Your blog is a big help to a struggling nurse like me. I am planning to pass my requirements to hospitals this week. Which one do u think should I go first? I mean the one u think that has higher chance of getting hired. I'm willing do the trainings and stuff. Well we don't really have a choice. Haha.

    1. Thanks Jowena. I personally recommend going to private hospitals as they are less likely to be biased on 'who-you-know'. A lot of them also hire based on rankings from their trainings (specifically SLMC, CSMC & TMC) :)

  13. i got an email from csmc to take their exam tom at 9am, it was for the post-grad training i think.. if i were able to pass the exams and interviews, do i still need to pay the training fee? and how much would that be? because i asked somebody from the nursing service dept about how much would be the fee for the training and they wont disclose it to me, they said they will just email it to me after wards.. im just wondering about it.. tia! ;)
